    World Trade Organization...

Post  goodyboy on Fri 18 Apr 2014, 13:37

from the iBeach...  What a Face

the WTO news continues to go by perhaps unnoticed or maybe considered less relevant...
    http://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ar&tl=en&u=http://alghadpress.com/ar/NewsDetails.aspx%3FNewsID%3D12626
    http://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ar&tl=en&u=http://www.alliraqnews.com/index.php/2011-11-25-02-00-52/127207-2014-04-16-14-35-26.html

...but this news may well be a crucial barometer, indicator, or gauge if you will, to understanding the potential timeline for "activation" of currency reform...why?

...because (based on the frequency of excellent WTO news that keeps appearing), Iraq appears to be working feverishly and at an accelerated pace, behind the scenes, towards completing all the WTO prerequisites for accession, which assumes having an international convertible currency (which clearly implies transitioning into IMF article VIII with a strategic move to begin liberating their economy by initiating the float of their currency and "activating" the process of appreciation in its value)...

...this is Iraq's third round of negotiations and they are hoping this is the final round (realistically there could be additional rounds)...
    http://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ar&tl=en&u=http://www.alliraqnews.com/index.php/2011-11-25-02-00-52/127207-2014-04-16-14-35-26.html

...but it stands to reason, that this continued effort on Iraq's part, to progress with some urgency towards completing their WTO "file" for accession, presumes that they are feeling the pressure and may already know how soon currency reform will be activated...why are they pursuing WTO accession at such a quick and concerned pace, relative to the slow snail's pace by which most everything else in Iraq takes place?

...by way of review, Iraq just completed a private, week long consultation with the US CLDP specifically to help Iraq accede into the WTO...
    http://cldp.doc.gov/programs/upcoming-programs/details/1260

...then, in short order, we see the Commerce Department holding a meeting with representatives of the World Trade Organization in Baghdad to continue ongoing negotiations between the two sides for Iraq's accession to the WTO...the meeting discussed the need to set the required laws and regulations of an economic nature, which Iraq hopes to approve during the next period...

    - Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (the SPS Agreement)
    - TBT: technical barriers to trade
    - ACC/4 agricultural guidelines
    - The initial bid for goods and determining the time period for completion of the Commission Goods...i.e. the WTO is interested in having Iraq diversify its supplier base, finding new suppliers that can provide quality goods and services and the terms under which goods are exported...
    - Customs tariffs

...it could predictably take some time for them to complete their "file"...

...NavyEagle (PTR) recently made an insightful commentary...
"... the progress of Iraq with the WTO is involved in (gb: and intricately related to) the advancement of currency reform in Iraq...however, as WTO accession requires Iraq's currency to be IMF Article VIII compliant and Iraq's progress (to this extent) has been and will continue to be one of the indicators of currency reform...full membership with the WTO is likely to accompany a change in value in short order. IMO..."

...finally we see that recently, from Iraqi TV transcripts, that here is a sense of urgency to facilitate Iraq's accession into WTO...here is a previous segment just recently posted...
"...transcripts from Iraqi TV today bring some more clarity to this current focus on WTO...it seems that global experts are really trying to get Iraq's accession into the WTO...it does seem as if there is a push in progress for Iraq to move move forward with currency reform and convert to an open market economy with an international convertible currency..."
    http://peoplestalkradio.com/forums/showthread.php?64555-to-WTO-or-not-to-WTO.../page2]

...so, IMO, we need to keep our eye not just on the CBI, but also on this news regarding the WTO...
......the most relevant clues are often less apparent, often obscured by guru talk, spin and all too often drowned out by the bellicose noise of vain and empty RV cheerleading...  What a Face

Observers point out that the accession to the World Trade Organization represents a prime target for many local economies because of the advantages achieved by this joining of integration into the global economy, providing great opportunities for investment, as well as finding markets for their products, but that this process is linked to the size and nature of the weapons competitiveness owned by the national economy, to enter the global market partner and a competitor, which is not available for the Iraqi economy in the current circumstances.

    Kap comment...
Yes they are trying to get in.  But I remind everyone, the WTO told them to get the dinar more in line with the dollar first...LOL...not to mention last year they told them to reduce dependence on oil...and they must have a market economy prior to accession.  So they got work to do.  Keep pushing!

Nice Goody very nice, that is one of the main key into the IQD value to go up is global market acceptance of the currency
